30 minutes a day with Berkhof

Berkhof’s Systematic Theology

Louis Berkhof was a Dutch Reformed theologian, best known for his Systematic Theology—a clear, comprehensible, and concise, presentation of Reformed doctrine, making it one of the best single-volume systematic theologies available.

This was originally developed for Baptists, so baptist references and resources are cited along the way.

Each month's assigned reading can be managed by reading approximately 30 minutes a day, Monday-Friday.

Note: This is designed to be used with the Banner of Truth “Expanded Edition.” See below for more details.

Why Berkhof?

I needed to put together a plan to walk some people at church through Systematic Theology, so why did I choose Berkhof’s? Louis Berkhof’s Systematic Theology is a clear, comprehensible, and concise presentation of Reformed doctrine. Though not a baptist, I believe Berkhof’s remains the best single-volume systematic theology available.

Why the Banner of Truth Edition?

There are a few different publications of Berkhof’s Systematic Theology, but I am recommending the Banner of Truth “Expanded Edition.” All page numbers referenced in this download will only correspond to it. The binding is excellent and the book lays flat when open on your desk.

This reading plan does not include the 187 page Introductory Volume in the Expanded Edition. We begin on page 3 of the Systematic Theology, Part One: The Doctrine of God.

If you don’t have it yet, you can get a copy of Berkhof’s Systematic Theology via Amazon.
